Andy is the Company Director and Manager of McElrea Holdings Group of companies. He is a qualified automotive engineer and accomplished race car driver in his own right with multiple racing titles to his name and has worked for race teams in NZ, England, Europe and America.
After completing his apprenticeship in New Zealand Andy moved into car sales working his way up to 'Sales Manager' at a local dealership in Christchurch.
In 1994 he moved to Auckland as the National Sales and Marketing Manager of NZ 'Autocar' magazine before moving to California where he worked for 6 years as the manager of a highly specialized division for a leading automotive tuning company Stillen.
Leigh is a renowned and highly respected former V8 Supercar Race Engineer who has worked at the top levels of Australian motorsport since 1990 for such household names as Alan Jones, Tony Longhurst, Paul Morris, Dick Johnson, John Bowe, Paul Radisich, Glenn Seton and Fabian Coulthard.
Leigh is a specialist in Motec I2 Pro and Standard, ECU Manager, Dash Manager ADL2 and 3, PDM, PI Toolbox, 2D, VBox, Driftbox and Cosworth data systems. He has extensive experience with European marques including BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, Audi, Lamborghini in both race and production specification.
Before joining MR in 2011 Leigh was considering a move overseas for a career in Formula One.
Wes is race engineer for the McLaren 650s GT3 of Tony Walls in Australian GT. He also uses the knowledge and experience gained from over 20 years in motorsport to head-up the MR Driver Development business, using modern technology and techniques to help school drivers of all talents behind the wheel of racecars.
Wes is an engineer with extensive experience in top flight motor racing both here in Australia and abroad. He has worked predominately in V8 Supercars since 2005, but also has experience with LMP cars, GT cars and single seaters.
In addition to the Objective McLaren Wes currently engineers a Supercar for Todd Hazelwood, who with Wes' guidance, won his first race in the series in 2017.
Dano is '#1 Mechanic' for Tony Walls in the Objective McLaren 650S in the Australian GT Championship and for various drivers in the 2017 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge.
He has worked as a race mechanic in NZ, Asia and Australia for over 15 years with notable success in Carrera Cup and V8 Supercars among numerous other racing achievements. He has racing in his blood with his dad Chris racing F1 powerboats back in the day.
He was the first full time race mechanic to join MR back in 2009. Since then has been the lead mechanic in MR's Mini Challenge, GT3 Cup Challenge, Carrera Cup and now McLaren AGT program. Dano is also in charge of Sub-Assembly at MR.
Tim is '#1 Mechanic' for Jaxon Evans in the Porsche Carrera Cup and for various drivers in the 2017 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge.
He has been in the racing game for the past 15 years working with a number of high profile and championship winning V8 Supercar teams.
Tim has been with MR since 2013 and brings with him his own unique comedic style and is often the instigator of practical jokes. He also likes to sing along to 80's rock ballads.
Jarom is finally living his dream of working in motorsport after spending his previous career working in building and construction.
He is the first apprentice employed by McElrea Racing and is now in his third year. Jarom was recently recognised as the Gold Coast 'Apprentice of the Year' making us very proud!
Jarom is a self-motivated guy with a passion for motorsport and fitness and now that he spends so much time pumping iron, his fitness is admired and respected by his MR colleagues!
Simon joined MR in late 2012. Being experienced with allot of horsepower and torque in his Chevy drag car and more than 30 years experience driving big rigs Simon is the perfect driver for our race transporter #McElreaPrime.
He also plays a vital role in driver grip levels by managing more than 200 wheels and 600 tyres for the Porsche Carrera Cup and GT3 Cup Challenge teams.
Simon is well-known for his commitment to getting our race cars to the track on time.
Donny is a welcome addition to our team and joins us after working for several years in various V8 Supercar teams including Paul Morris Racing, Stone Brothers Racing, Erebus, DJR and Team Penske.
Growing up around car racing and being a qualified Panel Beater he has spent most of his time working on cars so when Stone Brothers Racing expanded into a 3 car team in 2010 he put his hand up to become the second truck driver and has 'Kept on Truckin' ever since.
With more than 20 years experience working in performance workshops, prestige dealerships and motorsport teams, Michael has a wealth of knowledge and experience in all aspects of performance tuning and racing.
He has worked for several V8 Supercar teams and with them has enjoyed multiple podium finishes, the most memorable of which being a very exciting 3rd place at Bathurst in 2007 with Steve Johnson and Will Davison with the racing going 'down to the wire'.
Jack is the #1 mechanic for Tim Miles' Hungry Jacks Lamborghini in the 2017 Australian GT Championship.
He started out volunteering for our mate John Goodacre in Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge in 2009 and worked for him through to 2015. He is a humble young bloke and makes the most of the opportunities he gets to progress in this industry.
He also built and races his own R31 Skyline drift car in the Australian Drifting GP where he managed to finish 8th overall in the 2014/ 2015 Championship.
Hayden is the dedicated 'Data Engineer' for Simon Ellingham in the 2017 Carrera Cup Championship.
He has an extensive racing background in Australia, New Zealand and throughout Asia and has been working closely with MR since it's inception in 2009.
Hayden started his career as a race mechanic and over a 10 year period worked is way up to V8 Supercar 'Team Manager' for Fabian Coulthard and John Bowe.
Along with his work at MR Hayden now runs his own successful electrical business.
James is '#1 Mechanic' for Simon Ellingham in the 2017 Carrera Cup championship.
Based in NZ he is best known in Australia for his role as the lead technician on the MR build of 'NEMO' the EVO 7 that dominated the 2012 'World Time Attack Championship'.
James has a strong motorsport background and has enjoyed much success including Carrera Cup round wins with MR and driver Alex Davison in 2012 as well as his recent role as crew chief for the current NZ 'Toyota Racing Series' Champion.
Matt (or 'Spooner' as he is affectionately known) is a highly experienced race mechanic and #1 on James Abela's car in the 2017 Porsche Carrera Cup Championship.
He has vast motorsport experience in Australia and New Zealand including 2 seasons working as a '#1 Mechanic' in the V8 Supercar Championship.
Matt is a hard worker, international traveller and comedy-act all rolled into one.
With many years experience in busy and diverse businesses Heather (or 'Blondie' as she is affectionately known) is perfectly suited to her role at McElrea Racing.
She loves being organised and runs a tight ship keeping all the day-to-day operations in order.
Blondie enjoys sharing coffee and great food with friends and in her spare time she breeds a tropical fish.
Melanie handles travel, accommodation, uniforms, sponsor ride days and all extra administration duties for McElrea Racing and No Second Chance.
A background working in Airlines both in 'Engineering' and 'Passenger Marketing' and being married to Andy for what seems like a very, very long time gives Mel the experience and patience required to tie-up all the loose ends that come her way!
